The UNIX/Linux Fundamentals and Shell Scripting course provides training on standard UNIX/Linux commands and utilities used for day to day tasks including file manipulation, program execution and control, and effective use of the shell and X Window system. This course is designed for those who are unfamiliar with Unix and Linux operating systems, and presents the concepts necessary to understand the way UNIX works as well as the system's most commonly used commands. Students will also learn how to write Korn and Bash shell scripts.
Students that wish to learn about shell scripting and who are already familiar with basic Unix/Linux commands and navigation may instead be better served by attending our Korn Shell and Bash Shell Programming course.
The Korn Shell and Bash Shell Programming course provides a comprehensive introduction to writing Korn and Bash shell scripts. Both the commonalities and differences between the Korn and Bash shells are examined, and students will have the opportunity to learn from examples coded in both shells. Students will program their own shell scripts in class exercises, gaining experience with built-in string operators, variable typesetting/conversion, functions, and coprocess communication and control.
Korn Shell and Bash Shell Programming does require that an attendee is already familiar with basic navigation and commands for a Unix or Linux system. Students that wish to learn about shell scripting but whom also need training on basic Unix/Linux commands and navigation may instead be better served by attending our UNIX/Linux Fundamentals and Shell Scripting course.
The Linux System Administration teaches students how to install, configure and maintain a Linux system in a networked environment. The course includes comprehensive hands on practice installing and configuring Linux systems, providing coverage applicable to CentOS, Redhat, and Fedora. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to competently maintain a Linux system in a networked business environment.
Before taking Linux System Administration, a student should already have prior knowledge of fundamental Unix/Linux commands for moving, copying and editing files, and should also already be able to navigate around a Unix-based operating system fairly well. Our UNIX/Linux Fundamentals and Shell Scripting course provides an excellent option for providing that prerequisite knowledge. Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.
This course exceeded my expectations. The instructor made the course very interesting (kept my attention) and I feel I have learned more in this class than I have in other technical courses. The hands-on approach was very effective. I would definitely recommend this course and instructor to others!
